Derivation of Imidazole and Dihydrofuran from a Sponge Iricinia Fusca

       The sponge Ircinia fusca was collected from the Arabian Sea, afforded two new metabolites (1-2). The sponge Ircinia fusca (Carter, 1880) was collected from Vayngani, West coast of Maharashtra, India, in Feb 2016. Firstly the sponge was identified by Dr. Satish S.Mokashe he is Associate Professor of Department of Zoology at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, INDIA.
       The author followed Extraction and isolation methods.In this method in the laboratory, firstly the sponge was washed with distilled water to remove surface salts, sand, and epiphytes. The sponge was cleaned with tissue paper to remove excess water, cut into small pieces and placed in a lyophilizer to completely dry. The dried material was (2g) reduced to small pieces and extracted with methanol.Desalting of sponge methanolic extract with acetone. The methanolic extracts were concentrated under vacuum using a rotavapor at 400C followed by a partition with hexane. All the partition layers were subjected to preliminary bioactivity studies (antibacterial & antifungal) by disc diffusion method.
       By using Antimicrobial activity the isolated compounds 1–2 were tested against antibacterial products like Escherichia coli (NCIM 2065), Salmonella typhimurium (NCIM 2501), Bacillus subtilis (NCIM 2063), Staphylococcus aureus (NCIM 2079), Mycobacterium smegmatis (NCIM 5138) and antifungal strains Aspergillus niger (NCIM 1207), Penicillium chrysogenum (NCIM 1315), Alternaria sp (NCIM 900), and Fusarium sp (NCIM 1372) and after testing the remaining crude dissolved in DMSO at a concentration of 1 mg/mL. Therefore 2 compounds were formed by using extraction and isolation methods. The Compound 1 was obtained as white color and the Compound 2 was obtained as pale yellow viscous.

In initial stages, the lactic acid has been produced by two methods, such as 
1. Fermentative production    
2. Chemical production   

       Lactic acid is found primarily in sour milk products, such as koumiss, yogurt, kefir, and some cottage cheeses. In medicine, Lactate is one of the most important components and it is most commonly used for fluid resuscitation after blood loss due to trauma, surgery, or burns.
       Nowadays Lactic acid is considered as a very important chemical compound. It has many uses such as it has been used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and especially in the food industry. Lactic acid plays a significant role in economic processes by manufacturing degradable plastics made from poly (lactic) acid. In the industries, lactic acid is produced from Cane and beet sugar because they contain lactose, maltose and dextrose from hydrolyzed starch and the pulp of carob pods contain high contents of sugar and can be employed as a raw material for the production of lactic acid. In recent year, interest in carobs and date has been increasing because of a cheap source of various products by fermentation. In this article, the author had shown the biochemical characterization of date syrup showed it richness in total sugars. Date and carob syrups have similar values of pH (5) and dry matter content (17%). The richness of two syrups in nutrient elements and growth factors made them a medium of choice for lactic acid production and growth of Lactobacillus Rhamnosus. The different physicochemical and biochemical analysis applied to the date and carob pod syrups. The addition combined of sodium acetate and tween 80 (growth factors) in medium, increased advantages the biomass and lactic acid production.
